Ready? Here's a 'Stop pouting and just ask for it' story from when Sacha (yeah, that's me talking about myself in the third person) was a kid living in the big city alone in an unsavory neighborhood:
I asked my landlord if I could pay less rent. It was my very first apartment on my own and I was struggling a bit scrapping together the rent every month and I just thought, 'Why not ask and see what he says. I'm a good person. I'm not trying to cheat him. I'm just struggling.' So I called him up with my heart beating in my throat, all nervous. It was only the third time I had spoken with him: the first was when I filled out the application and the second was when I got the keys. When he answered the phone I meekly asked if he would consider renting the little place to me for a hundred dollars less a month. He said 'Well...Okay.' No questions, no conditions, no explanation needed. He just said, 'Well... Okay.' He didn't care to speak to me about it in any detail, it was done.
