Day 2: #100DaysStudioObj

Today's studio object: a water damaged, messy piece of paper with words and phrases written on it.

Quite a while ago I grabbed a piece of scratch paper from the recycling pile, folded it in half and wrote "shared memories" in the upper left corner. I had this idea that I would keep a list of words that struck me to use in a typographical art project. For a couple of years I would occasionally write something on the list, which was always close at hand in my studio.

A couple of months ago I made a zine from the list by creating a page in Adobe Illustrator for each word or phrase, in precise order they were written down, and then adding a little bit of typographical flair. The zine is not at all what I initially imagined I would make, but I needed to create some stuff for my table at LA Zine Fest in a jiffy, so when I spied the folded up piece of paper amongst my art supplies, the idea came to me . After weeks of creating analog, collaged pieces for the Fest, it was fun to come up with an all digital zine.

I don't feel done with the list yet, so I'm still hanging on to it. Typographical collage ideas are still dancing around in my head.
